Plague TSC Interview
Kahle:So its been a few years since i last saw you perform, have any shows coming up?
Plague:Unfortunately no shows coming up as of right now, working on perfecting my craft more and more every day and improving my physical health so I can eventually go on tour again! Covid fucked over a lot of people financially including myself so touring was out of the question for a few years, but hopefully once things start to die down with these new variants then touring will eventually be back in the picture.
Kahle:Has your physical health been a huge factor in music making?
Plague:The only thing it’s really become a factor in is performance wise, recording wise everything is fine. I’ve always been a bigger guy so I naturally get gassed easier, and my number one goal is to always put on the best show I possibly can for the fans, so right now my physical(AND Mental) health is my number one priority next to music. I want to be around for you guys for a long time and it would be selfish of me to take that away.
Kahle:Hell yeah! What's been your best show so far in your personal opinion?
Plague:Best show easily has to be the one where I opened up for Tech, as far as shows that weren’t mine. Having a sold out show at a legendary venue in Cincinnati where over 1,500 people were chanting my name was fucking nuts. But besides that, definitely my first time ever in Atlanta. It wasn’t the biggest show, but the energy in there was unmatched compared to any other city I’ve been to. Atlanta has always shown me hella love. I’ve only performed there a couple of times, but each time has been fucking superb and I can’t wait until I get to go back!
Kahle:Have things changed since becoming famous in a sense?
Plague:Honestly not a whole lot has changed other than the fact that I get respect and love shown from artists who are bigger than me now. I find it slightly odd whenever someone calls me famous though because I’m just like every other independent artist out there. We all work our asses off, we all go through the same bullshit, we’re all the same in a sense. Having said that, I do appreciate the new fans and supporters. Because I wouldn’t be anywhere without all of them. And that’s real shit.
Kahle:Man i love how down to earth you always are. I gotta ask how was it doing a track with Rittz?
Plague:Thanks man I appreciate that! And I gotta say it was pretty surreal getting to do a track with someone whom I’ve looked up to for years prior to that. He’s definitely one of the most humble and respectful artists that I’ve encountered, especially given how big his following is. We check in from time to time with each other to see how we’re doing but other than that it was all business related, which I can appreciate.
Kahle:Thats bad ass to see in the industry. Is their anyone you want to work with in the future?
Plague:Obviously Tech is at the top of the list, as he is on everyone’s list I’m sure. But other than that, I would really love to work with Shakewell. I feel like him and I would make a banger. I would always love to work with Ramirez, I already have a huge vision for what I would do with both of those artists and I would love to make that come to fruition one day.
Kahle:Drum line? That caught me by surprise. That's a cool fact we haven't heard much about. On that note did drum line start your rapping vision or did that begin at another time?
Plague:Drum line wasn’t responsible for me beginning my career, but it was however responsible for every flow pattern and switch up that I have in my book today. Learning rudiments and different cadences while in drum line has helped me immensely as far as that goes, as well as my ability to not get stale on a track. I’ve been playing percussion since I was around 7 years old and I’m 24 now, so the 17 years of work that I put into percussion is now paying off in the form of hip hop. Kinda crazy how it all played together in hindsight, but I’m glad it did.
Kahle:Thats awesome as hell. I respect your hustle for real! As more artists start working on their craft what advice would you give them?
Plague:One of the biggest misconceptions in this industry is that this shit happens quickly. None of the success you have will happen overnight unless you part of that 1%. I know it sounds cliche, but my best advice is do NOT get discouraged. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do this. If this is your dream and if this is your passion, then follow that until the day you die. Art is subjective and art is for everyone. There are no boundaries or limitations on what you can create. I promise that you can do this if you truly want it bad enough.
Kahle:Thats some inspirational shit. Is their anything else you'd like to tell people?
Plague:Focus on you and your mental health first. You can’t take care of others if you don’t take care of yourself. There’s been so many times when I put others before me and I’m paying for it right now. So that’s the biggest thing out of all of this. Mental health matters, and it should matter to everyone.
Kahle:I can understand that for sure! Mental health is a rough subject for most. Where can we keep up with your latest updates?
Plague:You can find me on Facebook and IG which is where I do most to all of my promoting and posting. Facebook is Plague tsc, and IG is @plagueisdead
You can also find merch at plaguetsc.bigcartel.com
Kahle:Do you have any final or closing thoughts?
Plague:If you need help, please ask for it. Reach out, and continue to reach out until you get the help you need and deserve. You aren’t alone in whatever you’re going through, and you don’t have to go through it by yourself. Also, no matter what anyone tells you, never give up and always keep going so you can achieve what you want to achieve. You can do this shit!
Kahle:Damn. This was probably my most favorite interview so far!
