Toska Nova Interview

SY KOSIS JONES:
Who is Toska Nova & what do you represent?
TOSKA NOVA:
Toska Nova is a Flash of Melancholy. I represent us, the independent people. We may feel as if the world is against us because we may have been taught that, but we shine beyond anything else. After all, we never comprised ourselves.
SY KOSIS JONES:
Where does the name "Sovereign Savant" come from?
TOSKA NOVA:
In my own thoughts, I dedicate a lot of time to research and knowledge. So to be a supreme ruler of knowledge has to be one's pride for learning. If arrogance is bliss, knowledge is the pride.
SY KOSIS JONES:
I understand you experienced many hardships early on. What were some of those obstacles & how did you maneuver around them to be where you are today?
TOSKA NOVA:
A lot of it was being a smart-ass kid. It got me in some situations where my jokes were not perceived as jokes. I was arrogant and self-righteous. It got me caught up hanging in some bad scenes. A lot of it was hitting rock bottom and seeing what's up. Realizing who my people were and what my worth was. Once I decided I was worth more, I started to chase more and work more towards my goals without hesitation. Asking questions of my elders and listening to advice of the people in my life wishing me success.
SY KOSIS JONES:
What does Sovereign Savant do?
TOSKA NOVA:
Sovereign Savant itself is a marketing company. We build brand recognition and awareness for small businesses and entrepreneurs, from targeted ads to digital billboards and events. We also own a studio in Portland, where we offer artists exclusive beats and graphics at a competitive rate. Also, we offer mentor programs for Artists, building a solid entertainment image, branding, and business guide to making it around in the music industry. Mike Prescott head that division as co-owner to Sovereign Savant LLC.
SY KOSIS JONES:
Your biggest inspiration obviously being the love for music; what is one thing you would like to see change in the underground?
TOSKA NOVA:
More teachable opportunities for our younger generation. Where people can come and ask to be put on, and more people are willing to take that chance on upcoming entrepreneurs. It's one of the main things mike, and I believe in is: everyone deserves a shot.
SY KOSIS JONES:
How is it that you & Mike Prescott met, & what initially caused you two to join forces?
TOSKA NOVA:
Well, we met online about 5 years ago. I was 2 years sober..shit that's crazy to have come out of my mouth. Anyways we just clicked for real. We both shared many similar experiences over time, and after everyone fell off, he was the guy who told me every day I was on to something. Now we're here, and I brought him in to be my partner because our best work comes out when we work together. It was a God foreseen manifestation of some sort.
SY KOSIS JONES:
You've been quietly building up to your artist debut; what sort of music do you plan on creating?
TOSKA NOVA:
Whatever my spirit desires. Im a music kid, so that you may hear your favorite track, I come out with something else you may not favor, but your homies will. Im letting my spirit inspire me and take notes from some of the artists that inspire me. Even if it's subliminally, sometimes your style is something you never classified yourself as but came out great and smooth. If im honest with my community, it will reach them. I believe in the power of self-expression.
SY KOSIS JONES:
With all that being said, what has your journey been like while creating your debut project?
TOSKA NOVA:
Fun! Were building the company, branding, scouting new talent. Don't get me wrong, we are staying busy. That's an understatement, although im starting to reminisce on where we came from. I gotta say, though, we have some loyal fans, and a lot of them became part of the team in one way or another. Shit, they watched me get sober. Struggle with learning curves and setbacks. They saw me grow in how I deal with problems. Without the solid fan base core, well, I wouldn't be here. I really want to thank the community.
SY KOSIS JONES:
What are some long-term goals? Where do you see Sovereign Savant and your career as an artist in 5 years?
TOSKA NOVA:
We manifest good music/good food/good people. We manifest inspiration and prosperity on all our work and our peers. Long-term goals, though. Making the charts and giving the fans the features they want to hear me work with.
Pssst...Merkules
SY KOSIS JONES:
Big things are coming from you! Go ahead & tell the audience how they can listen to your new music & where they can stay up to date with Sovereign Savant.
TOSKA NOVA:
They're goals for sure only the universe will tell, but we have hope!
