Lex Lethal:Mostly just making music, working on my career, working in my security job and spending time with my daughter. Hard though its been, it has it’s benefits.
Sovereign:Definitely understandable for being a creative myself, what would you say kept you inspired through it to keep creating and do you have any releases coming out any time soon?
Lex:Well, I have never had difficulty finding inspiration to write music, especially through hardship. It’s an outlet for my pain and my joy alike. But yeah, honestly, my notable progress in my career in the last year and a half has continued to motivate me.
I do have a few releases on deck waiting to drop such as my “Reflections of Self” EP, as well as a couple videos and tracks, including a non exclusive Stevie Stone collaboration I am in the studio with as we speak.
Sovereign:That's absolutely admirable, how has it been to record with Stevie Stone and is their anything you can tell us about that track?
Lex:Well, I am not technically recording with him haha. This is a non exclusive beat and verse sold through Anno Domini that my guy Philip Stengel bought. He was looking for artists to rip it apart, so I offered my savage heathen services. The track currently has two versions out that I have found, but mine has a different vibe and that classic Lex Lethal touch. It’s called “Go Crazy” and as well as Stevie Stone’s rap verse, I spit some bars and sing a hook. Although Philip will release the track on his streaming services, I plan to put my own lyric video on youtube.
I also tried to adapt a little to Stevie Stone’s own style to make the track sound more complete
Sovereign:Oh that's what's up! I bet its rough to adapt to a verse already placed but will be dope to hear! Can you tell us what its been like to be signed to Murder Musick?
Lex:Adapting is part of the fun. Murder Musick don’t do contracts man. We aren’t a label. We are a collective. We share the vision, push the squad and work for the growth of the underground. As for being a member, I feel like I am part of a family. We all look out for one another, and support our pursuits. We even have times when we disagree, but we dont let it get in the way of the main goal. The music. Its a collective of some of the best in the underground and I am humbled and honoured to be considered in that league.
Sovereign:Oh thats pretty fuckin dope man! I didnt know that man. That sounds pretty fun to be honest! Do have any concerts coming up in the future dates?
Lex:Nothing booked immediately. Wanna get my album out and promote it first. As it stands, my largest fanbase is american, and I am barely known here in norway, as I havent put the work in to achieve that yet. However, I am seeing alot of improvement in regards to the local scottish concert scene, so perhaps I will be back on stages in scotland in the future. In the meantime, I am underway in sourcing venues and pull for an american tour, hopefully late next year. Slow process when you have a job and a 4 year old haha.
Sovereign:Damn it sounds like you put in allot of work behind the scenes! Is their anywhere specific you'd like to hit while touring?
Lex:Definitely wanna roll through Chicago. My biggest following is there.
Sovereign:Is their any advice youd give upcoming artists?
Lex:Invest in your craft. Promotion, production and time in your writing process. Be patient and keep working. If you got what it takes to make it, you will.
Sovereign:Do you have any closing thoughts or mentions?
Lex:I gotta give a huge shoutout to my brother Ty Da Tyrant on Murder Musick. His coming album is some of the best musical works ive heard in underground hiphop, one of which is arguably the best somg ive heard in the genre for years.
Sovereign:And how do we keep updated on your music?
Lex:You can find me on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube as Lex Lethal official, and Lex Lethal on all other major streaming platforms. Look for the wolf logo.
Sovereign:Fuck yeah man thank you so much for your time!
